What are we doing?
Your mission
Prepare a safe pretend volcano scene, rescue the first dinosaur, widen and rebuild the bridge, then bring all three home before the countdown ends.
Stay safe
Safety note
Use stable low blocks on a clear floor with adult supervision. Children must not stand, walk, or jump on the blocks or blanket bridge.

Materials needed
- Three toy dinosaurs
- Six to eight large building blocks
- Blanket or towel
Follow the clues

Step 1
Prepare the Rescue Zone
Lay the blanket flat as pretend lava, place three dinosaurs on one side, and build one stable low block bridge.
βHow will you arrange the blocks so the toy dinosaurs have a steady path?β
Grown-up tip
Keep the scene on the floor, test block stability by hand, and state that only toys use the bridge.
Step 2
Rescue Dinosaur One
Use your hand to walk the first toy dinosaur across the bridge and bring it to the safe zone.
βWhat is the safest path for the first dinosaur?β
Grown-up tip
Keep the child beside the scene and praise slow, controlled toy movement rather than speed.
Step 3
Widen and Rebuild
Make the blanket lava wider, rebuild a longer stable bridge, and rescue the second dinosaur.
βWhat must change so the longer bridge stays steady?β
Grown-up tip
Let the child test ideas by hand and add support blocks before moving the toy.
Step 4
Beat the Eruption Countdown
Place the third dinosaur farther away, start a 60-second countdown, and rescue all three toys in sequence.
βWhat rescue order will bring every dinosaur home calmly and safely?β
6:00Grown-up tip
Run the timer playfully, stop if the bridge shifts, and reset without penalty whenever needed.
Progress is saved only on this device.
Learning and development
Skills children practise
Practise construction, spatial reasoning, sequencing, design iteration, fine-motor control, and calm problem solving under a playful time limit.

Make it gentler
Easier version
Keep the blanket narrow, place eight blocks close together, and rescue one dinosaur at a time without a timer.
Add a challenge
Harder version
Widen the blanket, use fewer bridge blocks, and shorten the final pretend eruption countdown to 45 seconds.
Grown-up corner
For parents
Keep the whole scene on the floor and remind the child that only toy dinosaurs cross the bridge. Ask what makes each rebuild stable.
Classroom idea
For teachers
Use small teams with builder, rescuer, and safety-checker roles. Reset the timer without penalty and rotate roles after each dinosaur.
